Camp preparation: Your equipment
Equipment, ingredients and materials needed for your camp
All good scouting activities and events need a level of planning to make sure they are successful.
Below is a list of things you will need to help your camp run without a hitch. It's not a complete list as we want to keep you on your toes throughout the camp!
Preparation
- Your personal kit for camp
- Your tent or the things you are going to use to make your den
- Torch or tent light
- Sleeping stuff – sleeping bag, sleeping mat, blanket, pillow
- Teddy bear
Camp opening
- Your beaver, cub, scout or explorer uniform (all of it!)
- Newspapers
- sticky tape
- pens or pencils (to colour in)
- or the items you are going to use to make you mini flagpole!
Afternoon activity: promise torch
- Scissors
- glue
- sticky tape
- stapler
- colouring pens / pencils
- printout of the promise torch challenge for your section
Dinner
If you are taking part in ready steady cook:
- Chicken
- a green vegetable of your choice
- an onion
- tinned tomatoes
- a pepper
- rice, pasta or potatoes
Or alternatively

Beans or peas
- Gravy (if you choose)
Ingredients for camp doughnuts
- 2 slices of bread (makes 4 doughnuts)
- Jam (strawberry or raspberry is good)
- Batter mix (1 packet makes 12 doughnuts)
- Sugar
- Oil
Camp fire
The healthier option:
- red grapes
- pretzel or bread sticks
- small bits of cheese
- napkin, paper towel or plate
The sweeter option:
- Marsh mellows
- Twixs or KitKats
- yellow, orange and red smarties, or M&Ms
- napkin, paper towel or plate
Main feature
A film to watch, possibly,
- Peter's Dragon (the 1977 version)
- Star Wars - The Force Awakens
- Wreck-it Ralph - Ralph Breaks the Internet
- Harry potter (any one the 8 films)
- Jungle Book (Cartoon or live action version)
- Up!
Lights out
- The reading on the website
Morning campers
- Your favourite cooked breakfast
Team challenge
Either:
- Chopsticks
- two pencils or pens
- two sticks from the garden
and:
- a pea
- an egg
- a tennis ball (or ball of that size)
- a cuddly toy
- a peg
- an onion (or 'onion-ish' veg)
- a pair of socks
