26th World Scout Jamboree - Poland 2027

The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is an international gathering of Scouts and Guides from all around the world. The World Scout Jamboree is an opportunity for young people and adult volunteers to make international friendships with people from different cultures, and take part in a safe, inclusive and sustainable programme of activities
World Scout Jamborees are fantastic events and their impact on those that attend can be, in some circumstances, life changing. Many young people and adults return from Jamborees exhausted but elated! The role of the Unit Leadership team is key in making sure that all the participants in the Unit have a positive experience of the Jamboree – from the moment they are selected right through until the end of the Jamboree experience (which will not be until August 2028).
The UK Scouts has a long history of sending large number of Units (36 young people and four leaders, divided into four patrols) as part of a UK Contingent to attend World Scout Jamborees. The units represent each of the UK’s counties and countries/regions, with unit numbers be allocated based on the numbers of young people in each area. Each Jamboree is a very different experience based on its location and design but there are also many common factors of such an international event.
The 26th World Scout Jamboree will take place in Gdansk, Poland in July/August 2027, and will take place from 30 July to 8 August 2027, bringing together Scouts from all over the globe for a unique celebration of unity, adventure, and shared learning (www.jamboree2027.org).
We are now recruiting inspiring leaders, intrepid adventurers and problem-solving pioneers for a position in our Jamboree Unit leadership team that build, lead, and attend the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland in 2027.
We have four leader positions available:
1 Unit Leader
1 Deputy Unit Leader
2 Unit Leadership Team Members
We are sure that a large number of adults will want to take part in this event as a Unit Leader. A role description and person specification has been produced to highlight what the role entails and the skills and experiences we are looking for.

We are keen that every adult in South London Scouts that wants to apply can. The Jamboree experience is a personal development opportunity for the adults as much as for the young people.
The costs have yet to be confirmed, we expect this event to cost no more than £3,500-£3,700 per unit leader although this is just our estimate.
Please ensure you read all the information provided and complete the application form carefully, as we anticipate a large number of applications. Successful applicants for Unit Leader and Deputy Unit Leader will be invited to interview. There will then be a selection event for successful applicants for the two unit team members.
