Welcome to our Young Leaders' Leadership Award - an award exclusive to South London Scout!

Young Leaders Leadership Award

The aim of our leadership award is to help you to enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence you required to become an effective young leader and then when you are 18 go on to take on a formal leader appointment.

The purpose of the award is to give you the opportunity to take a step back and think about your leadership skills and the qualities that make you a great leader in your sections leadership team.

This award focuses on leadership qualities and not the knowledge and skills you need to be an amazing young leader - these are cover by the national young leaders training scheme.

What makes a good leader isn't defined, it depends on you as an individual. We encourage you to complete the activities to understand what type of leader you are.

In the mid-1980s South London Scouts pioneered the origin of the Young Leaders scheme, which went on to become the national scheme you are part of today!

  • Exploring ethics, morals, and values

    Have you ever deemed someone's behaviour to be wrong? Have you ever questioned their way of thinking or the things they think are important and base their decisions on? When our minds wander to these places, the three terms -- ethics, morals and values -- tend to get a bit murky. As a society, we tend to interchange the three.
