Campfire (6:00pm)
All good camps have a campfire. That's not easy at home so here's our take on how you can enjoy a campfire during the main feature (the next activity)...
The healthier option
ingredients:
- red grapes
- pretzel or bread sticks
- small bits of cheese
- napkin, paper towel or plate
instructions:
- lay out a napkin, paper towel or plate
- arrange the red grapes like a ring of stones
- set up your wood (pretzel or bread sticks) inside the ring of grapes. you will probably need to snap your logs to make a great fire!
- add cheese to represent the flames
The sweeter option
Ingredients:
- Marsh mellows
- Twixs or KitKats
- yellow, orange and red smarties, or M&Ms
- napkin, paper towel or plate
instructions:
- lay out a napkin, paper towel or plate
- arrange the marsh mellows like a ring of stones
- set up your wood (Twix or/and KitKat sticks) inside the ring of marsh mellows. You will probably need to snap your logs to make a great fire!
- add the Smarties or M&Ms to represent the flames
Here's some other ideas, if you want to have a go...
-
Make a model campfire out of craft materials (e.g toilet roll inners or rolls of paper for logs)
-
Build a real small campfire in your garden (you must do this with an adult)
-
Sing campfire songs with your family
-
Take part in a virtual campfire singalong with other members of your colony, pack, troop or unit
-
Make up your own campfire song
-
Make up your own campfire sketch
Did you ever watch the campfire When the moon has fallen low, And the ashes start to whiten 'Round the embers' crimson glow, When the night sounds all around you making silence doubly sweet,
And a full moon high above you That the spell may be complete?
Tell me, were you ever nearer
To the land of heart's desire,
Than when you sit there thinking
With your face turned toward the fire?
