Our top awards team
Our top awards team helps explorer scout units across the county pursue top awards, and directly managed canoeing and cycling expeditions.
Monthly top awards workshops
These take place from September to May (June, July & August being set aside for exams and expeditions). During these sessions we help get explorers and leaders over the hurdle of getting registered, logging in, setting up modules, adding evidence and actually signing off and submitting their awards. Those attending these free sessions are 90% more likely to complete their award. See attached flyer for dates and details.
We need additional leaders to help support these sessions, particularly those who hold a top award themselves. If you can give up a Friday once a month to help support young people pursuing their awards, we'd be very grateful!
Hillwalking Permit Training & Assessment
Getting qualified with a hillwalking permit enables leaders to offer hiking trips, and supervise DofE expeditions. Talk to us about how we can help you get qualified.
Canoe Development
We regularly plan trips to help leaders work towards open canoe permits and British Canoeing Qualifications, Please email the team if interested.
Once qualified, you'll be able to book the team's fleet of canoes and offer canoeing to your section.
Cycling Project
We supported our first cycling team in the summer of 2018, They completed a fantastic expedition from Ironbridge to the Severn Bridge. Cycling is our most requested expedition method, and we're keen to develop this into a more regular offering,
We are looking for keen cyclists to join the cycling project and help develop a training programme. To support this we are looking to secure grant funding for a fleet of bicycles and accessories (available to book county-wide), but we need leaders to help support this. Please get in contact if this is of interest.
