Our Volunteers - Frankie Postles

My scouting journey started when a friend dragged me along to the 4th Streatham Sea Scouts when I was about 12 years old. That first evening with the group had me hooked. From that moment on, camping every month, boating on the Thames and summer trips abroad saw me forming lasting friendships with other young people. I stayed involved with the group when I became an adult as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader, although a little more on the periphery so that I could focus on my studies. Since graduating, I've become more involved again, and have drifted up the age range to helping with the Mercury Explorer Unit.

Volunteering with the 4th Streatham has given me experiences that I am convinced I would not have had if not for scouting. I am now an RYA Powerboat Instructor, a keen sailor, and have a deep passion for camping and hill walking expeditions. Volunteering is done on my terms, as everyone understands that there are other commitments on our time outside of scouting - that's what makes scouting so special.

Get involved - it's awesome!
