We've received lot of question about our badge scheme.

 

To help you we have listed them below...

 

Q When will I receive my order?
A Pre-ordering for badges closed on the 3rd July and we will be placing the order for the badges ordered once everone who has pre-ordered has paid their invoice ich we really hope will be by the 3rd July!). We should take delivery of the badges within 6 from our order and we will then work to fulfill orders the following week.

Q. Who can take part?
A. All sections are welcome to take part.

Q. Do we need to upload evidence?
A. No - it is up to the leaders in your group to agree that badge conditions have been met.

Q. Can we wear the badge?
A. South London Scouts can wear the badges on their uniform, anyone outside of South London Scouts can only wear them if permission is given by their District / County. They will also look great on your camp blanket!

Q. Which age range is this for?
A. All sections are welcome to take part.

Q. Can we as leaders have an idea about activities in advance so we make sure our young people can fit ?

Q. When this challenge starts and for how long ?
A. The challenge has already started and has no set expiry date at this stage.

Q. What is the aim?
A. The aim is to engage your groups in activities that they can do at home or as a group. The framework for the badges is totally flexible with the underlying aims of providing long term programmes to complete the badges over time (and not quickly) and for young people of all ages and abilities to do their best Please feel free to adapt the scheme as you feel appropriate for your members.

Q. Can we change the badge criteria?
A. Yes - Badge requirements are flexible within the framework to suit your group at your discretion.

Q. Can we add activities?
A. Yes - If you have an idea or resource for a great activity that you are planning to do with your members. Please email it to our team via Matt at matt.butterfield@southlondonscouts.org.uk and he will add it to the site. Only then can you count it towards one of the Home Adventure Challenge Badges! 

Q. Where can we find the guidelines!

Q. How do I purchase the badges?
A. Please email home.adventures@southlondonscouts.org.uk to register your interest for badges.

Q. Is this badge for Beavers?
A. All sections are welcome to take part.

Q. Is this badge for Cubs?
A. All sections are welcome to take part.

Q. Is this badge for Scouts?
A. All sections are welcome to take part.

Q. Is this badge for Explorers?
A. All sections are welcome to take part.

Q.  Can groups outside South London Scouts take part?
A. Absolutely. South London Scouts are proud to share our resources throughout out the world. Scouting is about sharing and cooperation - please do share.

Q. How flexible is this challenge?
A. Badge criteria is completely flexible within the programme framework, to suit your group at your discretion.

Q. Can I send in suggestions for activities for you too add?
A. Absolutely. Scouting is about sharing and cooperation. If you have an idea or resource for a great activity that you are planning to do with your members. Please email it to our team via Matt at matt.butterfield@southlondonscouts.org.uk and he will add it to the site. 

Q. Who is running the badge programme?
A. South London Scout County (Greater London South Scouts), in London, UK.

Q. Would you be happy for us to adapt to our groups needs and award badges to their capabilities?
A. Yes - Badge criteria is completely flexible within the programme framework, to suit your group at your discretion.

Q. Will parents be able to buy badges, or just Leaders?
A. Groups and Units will be able to purchase badges and award at their discretion to all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers (or equivalent), and scouting family.

Q. Can individuals buy badges?
A. Due to logistics we would prefer to deal with one contact for each group, unit or section rather than individual parents please.

Q. If our unit doesn't take part would my young people  be able to do the challenge as individuals?
A. Of course. Due to logistics we would prefer to deal with one contact for each group, unit or section rather than individual parents where possible.

Q. Do you have a spreadsheet/table that a sections achievement at the Home Adventure Challenge badges can be recorded?

Q Is it possible for you to send me a copy of these criteria as I only have my phone.
A. Due to the volume of people taking part we are not able to send out paper based badge criteria. Please see our online resource.

Q. Does it cost money to take part?
A. No - access to the resources are provided free of charge by South London Scouts - please share with your local groups. You will however need to purchase badges should you wish to do so.

Q. Can you provide the digital artwork for the badges?
A. No - due to the volume of people taking part we are not able to do this. You can use them off of our web pages though!

Q: Who is Jon?
A: John is the District Commissioner of Royal Greeniwch (in South London), but you can contact anyone you know called John!
